About Lorna TaylorLorna is a Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) and a State Registered Physiotherapist (SRP) with the Health Professions Council (HPC). She is also a member of the Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists (APCP) and Independent Children’s Physiotherapists Network (ICP). Anyone using the title “physiotherapist” must be registered with the hpc, always check a physiotherapists details are on www.hpc-uk.org Lorna’s membership details can also be viewed on www.csp.org.uk Lorna qualified from Leeds Metropolitan University in 1998 with a BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy. In 1995, she also successfully gained a Diploma in Sports Therapy awarded by the International Institute of Sports Therapy (IIST). In 2007, Lorna became a trained Health Professional for the Airedale Back Care for Children (ABC) Programme, enabling her to deliver this valuable health education initiative. Lorna has always had an interest in human movement and biomechanics, sport and health promotion/education. She thoroughly enjoys working with all children and understands the needs of families. Children First Physiotherapy encompasses Lorna’s experiences, both personal and professional, her qualifications and passion. Lorna cycle raced internationally for Great Britain and has been on tour with Junior Cycle race teams as a Sports masseuse. She has been a volunteer at the Royal School of Ballet, London and at Special schools for children with additional needs in Surrey and Leeds. Since qualifying, Lorna has gained a vast amount of experience and after working initially with adults in Derby chose to specialise in Paediatrics in 2000. Lorna became aware whilst working in adult Outpatients, that the majority of her patients had the root cause of their pain identified to the incomplete rehabilitation of a childhood injury. She was also made aware of the increasing prevalence of debilitating back pain. Lorna has gained experience from working with a variety of children and their families whilst working at Nottingham City Hospital, Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham Child Development Centre and Aspley Wood Special School. Lorna is a qualified, highly competent Paediatric Physiotherapist committed to the well-being of her patients now and for their future. She enjoys using her skills to help others and organised a sponsored bike ride to raise £4500 for physiotherapy equipment for Aspley Wood Special School. |
